Uilenspiegel is a true family establishment located in the heart of Ghent within walking distance of historical and tourist highlights, such as the Belfry, St Bavo's Cathedral and City Hall.

Mother Tilly is in the kitchen & son Matthias is in the dining room. The place sums up Ghent to a tee & you can tell this both from the menu with various Ghent specialities, and from the informal and cool service. Here, homeliness, tranquility & cosiness come together beautifully. This combined with homemade dishes from Grandma's recipe box, makes Uilenspiegel well worth a visit! The brasserie offers a varied menu of traditional, Flemish and French dishes, as well as seasonal suggestions. A top item on the menu is Tilly's vlaai© (pastry consisting of dough and a filling) recognised as a Ghent regional product. The brasserie seats 56 people and the spacious sun terrace seats another 32 in summer.

Medieval crypt

An added bonus is the medieval crypt, this remnant of St Bavo's Cathedral has a capacity of 40 more seats. The crypt has Wi-Fi & a giant TV screen.

You can come to Uilenspiegel for group lunches, receptions, meetings, as well as elaborate dinners. Several packages are provided, from which to choose. Since we only work with artisanal & homemade produce, a customised proposal can always be worked out as well.
